The folks at Hennessey Performance haven’t wasted any time getting their hands dirty with Dodge’s factory-built Challenger SRT Demon street-legal drag car. In fact, the Texas-based tuning company has already managed to squeeze out over 1000 horsepower from the Demon’s supercharged V8.
Using a Dynojet chassis dyno, Hennessey measured 880 horsepower and 806 lb.-ft. of torque to the wheels, which translates to 1056 horsepower and 967 lb.-ft. of torque at the crank, after factoring in Hennessey’s estimated 20 percent drivetrain loss. According to the video’s description, the power was achieved using the race-spec ECU included in the Demon Crate—the one that lets a stock Demon run unleaded race gas to make 840 horses. Other upgrades include a high-flow upper supercharger pulley, a high-flow lower crankshaft pulley, HPE engine management software, and stainless steel long tube headers with high-flow catalytic converters.

Power readings are one thing, but the real treat here is watching (and listening to) the Demon flex itself on the dyno. That supercharger whine and V8 bark are as ferocious as ever. Take a look for yourself as it lays down a couple of runs.
